An Archdiocesan Ministry Training Program to assist Parishes in preparing parishioners for visitation ministry to HOMEBOUND and EXTENDED CARE PARISHIONERS.
SPRING TRAINING PROGRAM

                        (Both Sessions are necessary for completion of certificate)
Time:                9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Cost                 $25.00 (includes lunch both days
AREAS COVERED IN THE TRAINING SESSIONS

    *       Understanding our call to mission and ministry.
    *       Care for the homebound, hospitalized and those in long term care facilities.
    *       Attitudes and qualifications for this ministry.
    *       Understanding the needs of those visited.
    *       Understanding rights and responsibilities, ethical issues and confidentiality.
    *       Principals of communication as related to the residents and the homebound.
    *       Need and scope of one-to-one ministry.
    *       Approaches to meeting the spiritual need of those we visit and connecting them to the parish.
    *       Specific ministries/referrals to the terminally ill, and bereaved.
    *

      Special needs and approaches to those hospitalized.
    *       Awareness of the spiritual aids/service available.

The Purpose of Ministry of Spiritual Care is to prepare the laity in parishes to assist clergy in responding to the spiritual needs of parishioners who are homebound or in extended care facilities. This training program will give participants the background knowledge, skills, support, resources and spiritual direction to effectively and compassionately minister to those they serve.
