A contingent of 50 priests and lay people from the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, including Archbishop Joseph Naumann and Archbishop Emeritus Keleher, were in Washington, D. C. and New York for Pope Benedict’s apostolic visit to the United States.

The Pope’s itinerary where representatives of the Archdiocese were present:

Wednesday, April 16
•    Archbishop Naumann and Archbishop Emeritus Keleher were in attendance at Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for a prayer service and to meet with the Holy Father.

Thursday, April 17
•    Both archbishops attended the Mass at Nationals Park in Washington
•    Dr. Kathy O’Hara, superintendent of schools, attended an address by Pope Benedict on the campus of The Catholic University of America.

Saturday, April 19
•    Monsignor Mike Mullen, Father William Porter and Archbishop Naumann were Archdiocesan representatives at St. Patrick Cathedral in New York at a Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict.

Sunday, April 20 
•    The Mass at Yankee Stadium brought the Pope’s visit to a close. 
Father Mitchel Zimmerman, vocation director, accompanied the Archdiocese’s 18 seminarians to New York for an audience with the Pope on Saturday, April 19.  They also attended the Papal Mass at Yankee Stadium.
