His Excellency The Most Reverend
Joseph F. Naumann, D.D.
Archbishop of Kansas City in Kansas
Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas
Metropolitan Archbishop of the Ecclesial Province of Kansas
January 15, 2005
“I ask for your prayers that I might be a good and wise Shepherd of the Catholic community of Northeast Kansas. I believe that it is my responsibility to lead by example. I pray that I might live my life as a bishop with integrity, zeal and joy so that you will strive to live your Catholic faith with integrity, zeal and joy. My hope is that with God’s grace that we can become more and more the Church Jesus has called us to be. It is my conviction if we proclaim faithfully the truth of the Gospel while radiating the authentic hope and joy that is the natural consequence of knowing and following Jesus, then our lives will draw others to desire the source of our hope and our joy. We will succeed in giving others the greatest gift possible – faith and life in Jesus Christ.”
(Archbishop Naumann’s remarks at Cathedral of St. Peter, January 16, 2005)
