CAMP KATERI TEKAKWITHA 2020

Camp Kateri Tekakwitha combines demanding outdoor activities with powerful, spiritual instruction bringing about a unique encounter with God.

Although our adventure activities are memorable, often the love that campers experience through prayer is what kids remember most.

Your child will have the opportunity to experience different forms of prayer during camp.

Adoration, Reconciliation, veneration of the cross, rosaries, litanies, Mass, information group prayer,

and individual reflection are among the many styles of prayer we practice here.

These prayer experiences will have a lasting impact on campers only if they are lived out and continued.

We encourage you to pray for your children during camp and with them after camp.

Camp Changes and Why

We have been in deep conversation with our camp medical advisors.  They feel strongly that sleeping in cabins with lots of campers overnight will not be medically sound in June or July. Therefore Kateri, Family and Junior High camps will now be day camps because we cannot social distance while sleeping. We will give High School Max and T-Xreme campers the overnight option by allowing them to bring a personal tent to sleep in, if they wish.   Our day camps will start at 8:30 am and end at 7:30 pm.  We will have a blast doing activities and experiencing God’s abundant love for us.  We will hike. ride horses, swim, dance, and have amazing adventures.

Additional Health Procedures

Camp Tekakwitha cares deeply about the health and welfare of every camper. We carefully prepare our facilities for our campers.  We thoroughly clean and sanitize every day under normal circumstances.  Our practices have been developed using guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control, the American Camping Association and medical professionals. We have intensified these procedures in light of our current situation. We will conduct a more vigorous pre-screening process than our normal process that includes steps to help prevent the spread of the virus and other contagions.

We will be observing social distance, washing our hands a lot and wearing masks as needed.  Our medical advisors recommend that our 5th and 6th grade campers have a chaperone with them to help them maintain social distance and proper hygiene.  Therefore, we are allowing a parent or designated adult to accompany the camper.  Kateri parents will receive more information regarding these details.  Staff, chaperones and campers will have daily temperature checks.  Those with a fever of 100 and above will be asked to leave until fever free for 48 hours and additional safeguards as recommended by the state, CDC and American Camping Association may be required as dictated by timely information.  Safety, faith and fun are always our priorities.

Camp registration will reopen on May 11th with these updates. Please do not reregister if you already have a spot in camp. Email camptekreg@gmail.com if you need to change dates.

We are grateful to you for your patience, wonderful questions and prayers during these trying times.

Sincerely Grateful,

Deacon Dana and Deborah Nearmyer--Director
