The Cathedral of St. Peter is the "Mother Church" of the Archdiocese.  Built in 1927, it is the home of the Archbishop's cathedra, or throne.  Established as a parish in 1907, St. Peter Church became the Cathedral for the Archdioces in 1947 when the See City was transferred from Leavenworth to Kansas City, Kansas.


Weekend Masses are on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., and on Sunday at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:45 p.m. (Spanish), and 5:00 p.m.
Weekday Masses  are Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 6:45 a.m.;  Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday at 8:15 a.m., and Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. during the school year.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is on Saturday: 3:00 - 3:45 p.m. or by appointment (starts at 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays in Advent),

and during Advent, confessions will be heard on Wednesdays (Dec. 2, 9, and 23) at 6:00 p.m., and a Penance Service is schedule for 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 16.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the side chapel is on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with Benediction at 9:15 p.m.


Pilgrimage Information:


The Opening of the Holy Door for the Jubilee Year will taken place on December 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the beginning of Mass.

Archbishop Joesph F. Naumann will be the presider. 


During the Jubilee Year, the church will be open for individual pilgrim visits generally one half-hour before Mass and Reconciliation times to about 30 minutes after the conclusion of Mass.  The main church will be accessible to pilgrims on Tuesdays during the time of Adoration in the side chapel from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.  For group pilgrimages, especially for RCIA and Confirmation groups wishing to visit at other time during the week, please call the main office, (913) 371-0840, to make special arrangements.
